MICHALA HULME is an Associate Lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University. She has beenbbh-manchester-cover researching the history of Manchester for the past twelve years and is currently studying for a PhD.

In 2011 she set up her own business – Unearth the Past – which assists people in tracing their ancestors. She helped everyone from athletes to Hollywood actors and has been dubbed as the ‘celebrity genealogist’. She is also the  official genealogist on Radio Lancashire, and the author of A Grim Almanac of Manchester (THP, 2015).
